Glucosamine supplements may not be a miracle cure, but they do improve the symptoms of arthritis, a patient has insisted.
The supplement is often taken by arthritis sufferers and, despite the recent debate over whether or not it provides any benefit, many patients still swear by it.
One such patient is 68-year-olds John Vickers, who told the Times that he has seen an improvement since starting to take the supplement.
He revealed: "It certainly wasn't immediate but, six months after starting to take glucosamine and fish oil supplements, I'm definitely noticing an improvement in my symptoms."
Omega-3 fish oils are also commonly taken by patients with arthritis. According to exercise physiologist Anna Snook, people with joint ailments should seek professional advice as different conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis tend to have differing dietary requirements.
However, she noted: "All arthritis sufferers will benefit greatly from an increased intake of omega-3 fatty acids."
