Brits risk bad breath and tooth decay

Britons should spend more time tending to their teeth in order to prevent dental health problems, a new study suggests.

Only 61 per cent of people make the effort to brush their teeth twice a day, according to new research from Denplan, and the majority - 72 per cent - do not brush for the recommended two minutes.

Steve Gates, managing director at the dental plan provider, said: "Our respondents said that they don't have the time to brush their teeth twice or more times a day.

"But, only four minutes a day is needed to help you avoid any nasty dental problems that could mean pain, anti-social smelly breath or even losing some teeth.

"As adults, these are the only teeth we are ever going to get, so it's frustrating to see people dedicate more time cleaning the car or putting their make-up on."

The survey, which polled nearly 2,000 people, also revealed that 60 per cent had suffered from poor dental health in the previous 12 months, suggesting that many could benefit from buying an oral hygiene system such as a TheraBreath Kit.ADNFCR-1167-ID-18478854-ADNFCR
