Dieters urged to avoid fasting after Christmas

Consumers who are hoping to shed a few pounds after the festive feasting are being advised to avoid extreme diets and focus instead on foods that aid detox.

According to Georgios Tzenichristos, a nutritionist and specialist in cellulite reduction, people wanting to detoxify and lose weight "need to eat more of detoxification-supporting foods, instead of undermining your system with diet fad".

The Kensington-based expert recommends abandoning cabbage soup and lemon detox diets and advises eating plenty of fibre, antioxidants and fatty acids instead.

"Popular detox fasts and extreme diets can actually leave you worse off, with looser skin, lower metabolism, poorer circulation and more toxins," he revealed.

Mr Tzenichristos is urging consumers to benefit from the essential fatty acids contained in evening primrose oil and fish oil, as well as supplements containing dandelion root and leaf extracts, artichoke extract, milk thistle extract and quercetin.ADNFCR-1167-ID-18406091-ADNFCR
