Am I taking the right
amount of Glucosamine
for my weight?
Glucosamine
is one of the most popular nutritional supplements in the UK. At
Goldshield, we provide a number of glucosamine products and in a
variety of strengths and because we want you to make a more informed
choice we have compiled a table below.
How much do I take?
When
you first begin taking glucosamine, it's generally recommended a
high dose - e.g., 600mg of glucosamine three times a day - is taken
for the first 14 days and thereafter reduced to a maintenance dose
of around 600mg once or twice a day.
The initial high maintenance dose will depend on your weight and
below is a table with a recommended dosage of glucosamine by weight.
For example, if you weigh 9st 7lbs choose the closest weight above
your weight on the table - 10st 2lbs. You would
therefore initially need to take an approximate total* of 1300mg
a day divided into three doses.
The information is based on a recommended dose of 1500mg per day
or 20mg per kg of body weight.
